The Core Media Player Review
Freeware
Right
now, we're going to look at something fun, and that is TCPMP, aka The
Core Media Player. If you've had mobile devices in the past,
then you're probably alread familiar with TCPMP. I've had
TCPMP on all of my previous mobile devices as well as PDA's.
TCPMP is an open
source media player that supports AC3,
HE-AAC,
AMR,
DivX,
FLAC,
H.263,
H.264,
JPEG,
Monkey's
Audio, MJPEG,
MPEG-1,
MP2,
MP3,
Musepack,
MS-MPEG4-v3,
PNG,
Speex,
TIFF,
TTA,
Vorbis,
WAV,
WavPack
and
XviD. It
supports many container formats, including 3GP,
ASF,
AVI,
Matroska,
MPEG,
OGG,
OGM
and
QuickTime.
Now, personally, I do not use
TCPMP for music, I really only use WMP for my music because I
prefer wma's over any other music format. However, I do use
TCPMP for one reason, DVD's. That's right, you can watch
your personal DVD collection on your Cingular 2125
with TCPMP with a little decoding/encoding/reformatting (watch for an
update in our "Tweaks" section for a How To on converting DVD's to
mobile friendly format).
TCPMP is easy to use, supports
button controls, full screen/wide screen viewing, has an onboard
equalizer and has enough plugin support to make your home theater
system jealous. If you're looking for a media player for your
Cingular 2125, get TCPMP, it can easily be found with a quick google
search.
